Local Sports – Denver Cutthroats

Denver Cutthroats blog

So on November 24, 2012 the Denver Cutthroats had a “Pack the House” night.  It was a good time to escape the family after two days of turkey.  My friend and I (we are season ticket holders) went down early for a meet and greet with the team and the coaches.  It was great, all of these young men were signing autographs for the fans there, talking with them and enjoying themselves.  Coach Derek Armstrong got up on stage and thanked everyone for coming out and supporting the team.  Afterwards my friend and I talked to him about 1996 when he was playing on the Turner Cup winning Denver Grizzlies and brought it down to Josephina’s and we got to… Read More →

Local Sports: Colorado Rockies – Hidden Highs

kiic-sports-blog

As another Major League Baseball season comes to a close, Rockies fans are once again left to reflect upon a season of disappointment. Rockies faithful have been caught in this post-season rut before, but this season brought another element to the table, as the Rockies were facing the possibility of a 100-loss season with only three games left to play. As the old adage states, “we can only go up from here,” and Rockies fans should spend the off-season focusing on the positives that can be taken from this unexpected season of turmoil. Although I don’t feel that this season was a result of bad managing on Jim Tracy’s behalf, his absence presents the club with the option for a… Read More →

NHL Lockout and Colorado Hockey Alternatives

kiic-sports-blog

So Gary Bettman and the owners of the NHL believe it is a good idea to have another lockout and the possibility of losing another season, second in 10 years.  The NHL is hurting their product in the hockey market place.  The NHL is already considered the fourth league in the major leagues and they really aren’t helping out their cause with this lockout.  Some of us really enjoy going to hockey games and the experience.  Lucky for us here in Denver we have a choice of games to go to.  The game I am most excited about seeing coming up on October 19 is the Denver Cutthroats.  The Cutthroats are the newest member of the Central Hockey League they… Read More →

Broncos Growing Pains

kiic-sports-blog

At this point, some Bronco fans may be feeling as though this whole Peyton Manning thing isn’t working out as it was supposed to. Back in March, when Manning chose Denver and the Broncos odds of winning a super bowl decreased to a jaw-dropping ratio, few anticipated that after five weeks of the season the Broncos would have a losing record at 2-3. Luckily, the NFL isn’t like the BCS, and one or two losses won’t eliminate a team from title contention. Sure, the Broncos landed one of the greatest passers the game has ever seen, but as a whole, we seem to be experiencing some growing pains that are rearing their ugly head in the form of inconsistency. Week… Read More →

Todd’s Take on the Broncos

kiic-sports-blog

After destroying the Oakland Raiders last week at home, (remember when the Raiders were feared?)  Our Denver Broncos went on the road to take on Tom Lady, the Hoodie, and Hoodie, Jr. at Foxboro.  It looked like the Broncos were going to come out and set a tone when they started their drive.  A pass to DT running in the open field heading for the endzone and a 7-0 lead in Foxboro and see what happened.  Fumbled?  DT!  Did you not learn anything from the last time you did that?  You get paid to catch, run and CARRY THE BALL!  And Willis McGahee, you have been in the league 10 years man!  Catch then run!  Two arms around the ball! … Read More →
